The Shiv Sena leader and former minister, Ramesh Solanki, recently filed a complaint against the makers of "Annapoorani," alleging disrespect towards Hindu sentiments and the portrayal of Lord Rama in an objectionable manner.

The controversy has now escalated as a Hindu right-wing organization in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, registered an FIR against the entire star cast, including lead actress Nayanthara, and the producers and directors of the film.

Atul Jeswani, spokesperson for the Hindu Seva Parishad, stated that the film contains scenes that disrespect Lord Rama, a revered figure in Hinduism. He pointed out instances where the movie allegedly makes derogatory comments about Lord Rama, thus hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community.

Jeswani specifically mentioned that the film depicts Love Jihad and portrays Lord Rama as someone who killed animals during his exile. The organization has invoked sections 153 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code in the FIR, accusing the director Nilesh Krishna, producers Jatin Sitthi, Ravindran Punit Goyi, and the entire star cast, including Nayanthara, Sarika Patel, and Monica Shergill, of promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion.

The FIR was lodged at the Omti police station in Jabalpur, and the police have initiated an investigation under the relevant sections. The legal action against the film reflects the growing sensitivity surrounding the depiction of religious figures in the Indian entertainment industry and the potential consequences for filmmakers who tread on contentious religious territory.

The case against "Annapoorani" is likely to spark discussions on the fine line between artistic expression and the need to respect religious sentiments in a diverse and culturally rich society like India.
