India Extends Support to Japan Following Devastating Earthquake and Tsunami

Japan: The Indian embassy in Japan has set up an emergency control room and issued helpline numbers for Indian citizens after a powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake triggered a tsunami along Japan's coast. The embassy is in regular contact with local authorities and has urged Indian citizens to follow instructions given by the Japanese government.

The emergency helpline numbers provided are:

The embassy has also established communication channels through sscons.tokyo@mea.gov.in and offfseco.tokyo@mea.gov.in.

Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological Agency has issued tsunami warnings for Ishikawa, Niigata, and Toyama prefectures, marking the first major warnings since the devastating 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
