The police have filed an FIR in connection with the case, revealing that a private NGO was managing the girls' shelter without proper authorization.

The incident came to light when Priyanka Kanun, Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), conducted a surprise inspection at the girls' shelter.

The register indicated entries for 68 girls, but 26 were found missing during the inspection.

Santosh Janak, the caretaker, remained unresponsive during inquiries, stating that only 41 girls were present during the inspection.

However, our correspondent outside the shelter reported that the entire facility, located in the Parwaliya Road area, had been sealed off by the police.

As the missing girls were taken into custody by the police, investigations revealed irregularities within the shelter.

The shelter, allegedly funded by German organizations, faced accusations of imposing Christian practices on girls from various religious backgrounds. The allegations further included violations of the Child Rights Protection Act.

The premises, about 20 kilometres outside Bhopal, displayed signs of being a Christian missionary facility.

Serious allegations have been made against the administrators of the girls' shelter, with the police currently conducting a thorough investigation.

The case has now taken a political turn, with the Congress party accusing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of negligence.

On the other hand, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has urged for a high-level inquiry to be conducted promptly.

As the new year begins, the scandal surrounding the girls' shelter in Madhya Pradesh has ignited a political debate, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive and swift investigation into the grave allegations.
