Avtar Saini, Former Intel India Head, Tragically Died in Navi Mumbai Cycling Accident

In a shocking incident that has left the nation in mourning, Avtar Saini, the former country head of Intel India, lost his life on Wednesday morning in a tragic cycling accident in Navi Mumbai. 

The 68-year-old was cycling along Palm Beach Road in Nerul when he was struck by a speeding cab. Despite immediate medical attention, Saini was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Avtar Saini was a highly respected figure in the technology industry, having played a pivotal role in establishing Intel's research and development centre in India. 

During his illustrious career at Intel from 1982 to 2004, Saini made significant contributions to the design of several processors, including the renowned Intel 386 and 486 microprocessors. He also led the design of the company's groundbreaking Pentium processor.

The tragic incident occurred at approximately 5.50 am on Wednesday when Saini was cycling with a group of fellow cyclists. Eyewitnesses reported that the speeding cab struck Saini's bicycle from behind, causing him to be thrown off and sustaining fatal injuries. 

Shockingly, the driver attempted to flee the scene with the bicycle's frame still trapped under the front wheels of the vehicle. However, the police swiftly intervened and have since registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the cab driver, Hrishikesh Khade, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.

The news of Avtar Saini's untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the technology community, particularly at Intel India. Gokul V Subramaniam, the President of Intel India, expressed deep sorrow on social media, stating, "At Intel, we are saddened by the demise of former country manager & director Intel South Asia, Avtar Saini." 

Subramaniam highlighted Saini's instrumental role in establishing Intel's research and development centre in India and his significant contributions to the design of various processors during his tenure at the company.

Avtar Saini's tragic passing is a profound loss not only for Intel but also for the entire technology industry. His expertise and leadership were instrumental in shaping the advancements of microprocessors, including the iconic Intel 386 and 486. Saini's contributions extended
