Has the Fighter movie truly flopped? Investigations begin in the wake of surprising collections

Fighter movie — In a surprising turn of events, the recently released action-packed film "Fighter" is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The movie, which had a lot of buzz surrounding its release, seems to be facing unexpected challenges at the box office, raising questions about its success.

The first eight days' collection figures have left both fans and industry experts in shock, particularly considering the movie's high expectations. With a day-wise collection of around 8 crores on its fifth day, Fighter's performance has been far from what anyone had anticipated.

The film faced tough competition, with a national holiday falling on the 22nd day of its release. Despite boasting a star-studded cast and being touted as a matter of national pride, Fighter struggled to reach the expected heights.

The action-packed aura surrounding its release, especially during the Republic Day holiday weekend, generated almost 40 crores, showing a significant drop from the Thursday collection.

On the second day, Friday, Fighter managed to earn approximately 76 crores, displaying a downward trend. However, Saturday, a bank holiday, witnessed a further drop to 30 crores.

The overall collection, though heavy, falls short of the opening day's heavy collection. Considering that the movie earned 22 crores more than its 8 crores Thursday collection, it leaves many in disbelief.

Fighter faced stiff competition from the critically acclaimed movie "No Holiday," which earned a whopping 22 crores less despite being lauded for its star-studded cast and being touted as a national pride film. The release strategy and the overall atmosphere surrounding the film have left industry insiders questioning whether Fighter has truly flopped.

The Brahmastra movie, which faced a boycott wave upon its release, has also been a topic of discussion. Comparing Fighter's first Monday drop, which was 72 crores, to other recent releases, it's evident that Fighter's performance is disappointing.

Dream Girl 2 and kisi ka Bhai kisi ki jaan, released on consecutive Wednesdays, experienced drops of 66 crores and 62 crores, respectively. The unexpected fall in Fighter's collections has raised eyebrows.

Fighter's downfall is particularly surprising as it competed with Bholaa, another film released on Thursday. Bholaa, which saw a drop of 4.5 crores after the first four days, is making industry experts rethink their expectations.

The fact that Fighter, despite a more extensive release, earned only 8 crores more than Bholaa in the same timeframe has added to the disappointment.

The comparisons don't end there. Bholaa's total collection in the first four days was around 43 crores, while Fighter's was over 120 crores.

Yet, by the eighth day, Bholaa had surpassed Fighter, earning around 120 crores. These statistics raise concerns about Fighter's sustainability in the long run.

While Fighter managed to earn 6 crores less than Bholaa in its fifth day, the overall prospect of Fighter's collection seems uncertain. If it sustains its current pace, it might achieve a decent lifetime collection, possibly around 220 crores. However, this is far from the 250 crores estimated during its release.

One aspect to consider is that exact budget figures for Fighter are not available, and it's essential to factor in the budget when determining the success or failure of a film. If Fighter manages to cross 250 crores worldwide, it could be considered a surprising success. On the other hand, if it falls short, it might not live up to expectations.

In conclusion, the fate of Fighter at the box office is still uncertain, and only time will tell whether it can turn the tide in its favour.

The coming weeks will reveal whether it can sustain its collections and be a surprising hit or continue on a downward trajectory, solidifying its status as a flop in 2024.
