A doctor at Saifee Medical College in Etawah implanted fake pacemakers in patients, confirming the deaths of 200 individuals. The doctor had placed counterfeit pacemakers in approximately 600 patients.

Etawah:- In a shocking incident from Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, a doctor at Saifee Medical College got involved in a scandalous affair. Dr. Sameer Sarraf, a heart specialist, started playing with the lives of poor patients after being influenced by foreign practices. He implanted fake pacemakers in around 600 patients, and the confirmed death toll has reached 200. The doctor is currently in jail.

Overcharged at 9 times the price

In the cardiology department of Saifee Medical College in Etawah, Dr. Sameer Sarraf, a practicing doctor, implanted fake pacemakers in patients at rates higher than the agreed SGPGI prices. Following complaints from the patients' relatives, the administration of Saifee Medical College formed an investigation committee. 

The investigation validated the complaints, revealing a 9 times overcharge compared to the agreed-upon prices. Additionally, the use of counterfeit pacemakers was confirmed. Subsequently, a state-level expert investigation team was formed. The then-secretary of Saifee Medical College, Suresh Chand Sharma, wrote a letter to the former Medical Superintendent, Professor Dr. Aadesh Kumar, stating that this matter is associated with the hospital.

A letter was sent via Speed Post on December 24, 2022, which was investigated by the then PGI Police Station in-charge, Sub-Inspector KK Yadav, leading to the registration of a case. 

The allegation was that despite the availability of goods in the Cath Lab of Saifee Medical College for over a year and a half, Dr. Sameer and others stationed here had unlawfully purchased unnecessary items worth around one crore rupees in 2019, involving a significant financial irregularity. After various levels of scrutiny, the Medical College administration halted the payment.

Keshav Prasad stated that the government is with the victims

Returned from Madhya Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya made a brief stop at Saifai Airstrip on Thursday. Regarding Dr. Sameer's case, he mentioned that the government will identify those who faced difficulties, take necessary steps for their protection, and decisions will be made in the Cabinet meeting. Meanwhile, Secretary Dr. Chandravir Singh stated that Sameer is in jail, and further decisions will be taken in the Cabinet meeting
