Nothing, the London-based tech startup founded by Carl Pei, is generating buzz with rumors of its upcoming smartphone, the Nothing Phone 2a. Expected to make its debut at the Mobile World Congress 2024, the Nothing Phone 2a follows the releases of the Nothing Phone 1 and Nothing Phone 2 in 2023 and 2022, respectively.

The latest leaks, in collaboration with tipster Kamila and Smartprix, shed light on the anticipated smartphone's camera specifications, design, and potential features. According to the leaks, the Nothing Phone 2a is positioned as a mid-range device, offering affordability compared to its predecessor, the Nothing Phone 2.

Camera Specifications

One of the highlighted features of the Nothing Phone 2a is its camera system. The leaks suggest a dual-camera setup on the rear, featuring a 50MP Samsung S5KGN9 primary sensor and an additional 50MP Samsung S5KJN1 ultra-wide-angle lens. The primary sensor boasts a 1/1.5-inch sensor size and 1.0-micron pixel size, while the ultra-wide-angle lens comes with a 1/2.76-inch sensor size and 0.64-micron pixel size. For selfies, the front camera is reported to be a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor housed in a punch hole cutout.

Display and Performance

The Nothing Phone 2a is rumored to sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, featuring the model number rm692h5 manufactured by Visionox and BOE. Powering the device could be a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, a departure from the Qualcomm processors used in earlier models. The leaks also suggest an OLED display with a resolution of 1,084 x 2,412 pixels.

Design and Variants

Leaked images reveal the Nothing Phone 2a in black and white color options, each expected to feature unique default wallpapers named 'Ruxe,' 'Nexul,' 'Azunim White,' 'Orbique,' 'Rubrane Black,' 'Ambra,' and 'Virmar.' The availability of the device is expected in India, Japan, Europe, and global markets, under the model names PacmanIND, PacmanJPN, PacmanEEA, and Pacman, respectively.

Launch and Speculations

The Nothing Phone 2a is speculated to be unveiled at the "Nothing to See" event during the Mobile World Congress on February 27, 2024. While the company has not officially confirmed the launch details, the leaks suggest that Nothing might use the event not only to introduce the Phone 2a but also to tease the possible arrival of the Nothing Phone 3.

It's important to note that these leaked specifications are unconfirmed and subject to change. As the excitement builds around Nothing's third smartphone, enthusiasts eagerly await the official launch to see how much of the speculation holds true.

Stay tuned for updates as the launch date approaches, and keep an eye out for the "Nothing to See" event at MWC 2024.
